Something clever.
The engagement party in February and attached wedding might seem like old news, but the big date is still over a year away. Lots going on behind the scenes.
Over the last few months we’ve booked the reception site and entertainment, taking care of the party side of the wedding first — we clearly have our priorities straight.
Moving on to one of the more specific details, we selected our cake chef yesterday.
Tiffany and I went to Easter service yesterday along with my uncle, aunt and two cousins. We hadn’t seen them in a little while so when they invited us over for church and brunch, we took them up on the deal.
Hanging with Tom, Tina, Abby and Ali was fun, as always. Picking on the girls and beating them at Nintendo Wii is enjoyable any day.
Because of the upcoming marriage, which is still 15 months away, Tiffany and I have been trying to attend church as often as possible. We have to show up enough to get them to wed us crazy kids. Or we can not go at all and pay them a $1,000 fee.
It turns out that public humiliation is only bad when you have enough energy to care.
Tiffany and I got together with members of Tiffany’s family to participate in the National Kidney Foundation’s Walk & Run Saturday morning at Polaris Fashion Place. We participated to honor the memory of Tiffany’s aunt Pattie, who passed away two years ago.
Tiffany, her mom and her aunt Becky decided to make T-Shirts for the event because, well, arts and crafts equal a fun Friday night for them. The guys of the group, Tiffany’s step dad Jeff, uncle Mark, uncle Jim, cousin Matt and brother Grant all bit the bullet and made their own shirts as well — each spending roughly 8 minutes writing “Team Pattie” in manly, thick block letters. Mark, to be exact, shortened “Team Pattie” to simply “TP” and the date.
As an FYI, when disposing of a bottle of Metamucil or any generic fiber supplement, do not ever pour the powder down the kitchen sink.
And if you can’t resist the urge and DO pour it down the sink, don’t pour it down the side of the sink with the garbage disposal.
And if you can’t stop yourself from dumping the powder in the disposal, don’t waste your time trying to clear the clog with Drano or Liquid Plumber.
And if you do use one of these chemicals, don’t obsess that you clogged up the kitchen sink so much that you then try and plunge the clog and in your haste, splash the chemical-laced water on yourself, clothes and kitchen floor.
If my engagement didn’t seem real enough before, now it’s going to seem … real … er.

A photo of the engagement ring, which was glaringly omitted from the series of proposal pictures, has been added to the gallery.
The ring was originally given to my grandmother by my grandfather when he proposed and features a “European cut” diamond. I merely had the ring resized. Tiffany will make some minor adjustments, like reducing the number of prongs from six to four, but will likely leave it in its original state.
