My Civy’s finally repaired

More than a month after my neighbor across the street backed into my Civic, I finally get to drive it sans ugly damage.

After waiting weeks for Liberty Mutual to determine the accident’s liability — in other words — after Liberty Mutual had obtained and processed my police report and estimate, they OKed the repair.

Since I didn’t find out about my car being hit until later in the day, I had to download and snail mail my own police report which was an interesting but weird process. It certainly slowed down the repair.

Civic Service

Three weeks after I signed up for my new Civic, I finally received an e-mail from Bill at Roush Honda Monday morning indicating my car had been built! They estimated it would take 3-4 weeks, and with the weather in Ohio lately, which caused the Honda plant to close for at least two days, I was expecting to receive the car closer to 4-5 weeks. The e-mail supplied my car’s VIN and said the only thing between my car and I was the time for delivery. Imagine my surprise when Bill called me at 6 p.m. that same evening to tell me the car had just been rolled of the truck.

I picked it up last night and I gotta say, after driving the Prot-e around for the last six year, this new whip feels pretty pimp.

Introducing the new Civy. May it earn a better nickname than “the shoe.”

My New Civy

A New Protege

Through all this F-ing snow, my Protege, or “the shoe” as Andy named it, is still alive and ticking — kind of. A few weeks back the A/C compressor locked up, which is tied to the power steering. A $700 problem according to the guy at Star and Northwest Auto Care. So, I’ve had no air conditioning (no problem, it’s been 0 degrees outside anyway) and no power steering (huge problem when the steering is already hindered by a foot of ice and snow). Not to mention the brakes need to be replaced soon and the whole front end creaks like this guy’s bed every time i hit a bump.

And considering my car would barely qualify as “fair” condition on its report in Kelley Blue Book without the broken compressor, I took the plunge a few weeks ago and signed up for a new 2007 Honda Civic.

New Civy

I wanted a stick shift, so I still haven’t received the car because Honda doesn’t make many stick shift Civics here in the states. They’re supposedly huge over in Asia, though.

By the way, if you’re in the market for a new Honda in Columbus, just go to straight to Roush Honda. And ask about Honfidence.

Hopefully the Civy will arrive soon. There’s nothing worse than driving a broken Prot-e when you already approved a new car.
