Uneventful jury duty ends

After seven days of utter boredom, my privileged duty to the United States government, or at least a county in Ohio, adjourned yesterday. Hopefully it will be a long time before I have to return to Franklin County’s Court of Common Pleas as a potential juror or otherwise.

Besides the couple hours spent in preparation for a murder case which never happened, which I mentioned in the last post, I read. And sat. And sat and read and sat and read and read and sat some more. And after fighting off falling asleep in my folding chair because I was so tired of reading, I read some more. While I sat. And finally they let us out for lunch where I ate while I sat and read.

The waiting is the hardest part

I only have seven minutes this morning, so I have to make this quick.

Jury duty for Franklin County’s Common Pleas Court so far has been outrageously boring. There have been a couple interesting parts. Seeing the courtrooms and almost being sat for a murder case, but overall it has only been a bunch of waiting.

I arrived Monday at 8 a.m., shelled out my $5 for parking, and joined the other 199 or so jurors in filling out paperwork. Extended holiday

After a slow blog week caused by the Thanksgiving holiday, Monday morning begins my two weeks of jury duty.

Unfortunately, the Web site updates will probably continue to be sporadic over the next 14 days until my schedule gets back to normal.

Jury Duty Postponed Until November

As I reported in an earlier post, I have been summoned for Jury Duty.

My boss wrote a letter to try and get me out of it. We faxed it in 3 days ago.

Today during lunch I received their response.

“Your request to be excused HAS BEEN DENIED and your service date has been rescheduled to the date noted above.”

The capital letters in “has been denied” is pulled straight from the letter, by the way.

Instead of getting it out of the way and starting on Sept. 24, now I have to start my two weeks on Nov. 26. That’s the Monday right after Thanksgiving weekend for those of you that aren’t calendar savvy.

So now I have to serve between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday.

Bloody Hell.

I’ve Been Summoned For Jury Duty

It was bound to happen some time. One of the major punishments for striving to be a stand-up citizen and taking the time to vote.

Not to mention wading through the mountains of politicians’ bullshit to try and determine who’s the most sincere. Who will be the best man for the job prior to each election. People who vote by party every time no matter what are just lazy, but I digress.

I’ve been summoned for jury duty.
