A little more than two months after I submitted my resume online to the Ohio State University, and after many e-mails back and forth, I received the following message yesterday afternoon:
Hi Rick,
I’m sorry to tell you that the Web Communications Specialist position has been canceled. There is currently some reorganization going on in our department; positions are shifting and changing. Because of that, we have decided to rethink the Web Communications Specialist position. We are not sure whether we are going to re-post it at a later date, completely re-tool it, or delete it altogether.

After spending years in Nashville, my buddy Nick, who I grew up with in Cincy, has finally landed a job in the field he has been trying to break into.
Nick will start as an installation technician with Multi-Media Masters Inc., who according to their Web site are “masters of vision and sound.”
After Nick completes some certification courses he will be promoted to project manager.
Unfortunately, the M3 offices are in Nashville so he won’t be moving to Columbus any time soon — not that he was planning on ever doing that anyway.
It’s perfect timing because my future rock band is gonna need a sound guy. As soon as I learn how to play a guitar. Or sing.
