Flickr for the win!

I spent five hours yesterday trying to find a way to post pictures from my cell phone directly to the main blog post rundown of this site.

I tried the built-in post via e-mail feature of WordPress, but it wouldn’t post pix message attachments. Also my site would just hold the post for approval instead of auto posting the message.

I then tried using my Tumblr account, which does a great job of accepting and posting pix messages, but they don’t have an auto post to WordPress option. Fair enough, I thought I’d try a couple feed aggregators to do that.

Efing with B.A.

B.A. posted a photo of his young niece (or something) in her shirt and diaper on his Flickr photostream. The pic was perfectly normal and fine, but I left a comment that said “Dude, Chris Hansen’s gonna show up and tell you to have a seat.”

Then I got this e-mail from him:

“What up yo? Thank you for giving me a complex… after you commented on Tiffany’s picture, that one and her others got favorited by a perv… which I blocked. I really hate to make it private because my family checks my Flickr page out… I could send them all a guest pass invite… I don’t know. Now I’ll question everything I put on there.”

Then this e-mail from him literally two minutes later:

“I hope you don’t take offense, but I deleted your last comment… I really don’t want people to think I’m a pedophile with my site consisting of mostly a little girl”

Flock weaves Web browsing, social networking

Flock

If you’re a frequent user of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter or Digg, or even perhaps just like tinkering around with the latest software technology, there’s a new Web browser you should try.

It’s called Flock. The browser integrates popular sites like Flickr and YouTube as well as Web mail from Google and Yahoo right into the browser. The concept is meant to save you time so you don’t have to visit and log into each individual site to get updates. It tells you if you have new mail or if a friend updated his or her Facebook profile right inside a minimal tool bar. It’ll even show you if your contacts have uploaded any new photos to Flickr and display the latest thumbnails in their photostream.

Housekeeping

Apparently, some users of Internet Explorer were having trouble viewing this Web site lately. The header and side columns would show, but the middle column — you know, the one with all the posts — was missing and jumbled at the bottom of the page.

So I switched to the default WordPress theme while I find a new look.

I think software updates knocked the old theme out of usability. I also noticed that the theme switch has cured a problem I had with my blog and Flickr communicating with each other.

So pardon my blog’s mess while I update the theme and explore Flickrizing my gallery.
