Preaching to the chior

Back in March I touched a little on the silliness of religious songs. I pointed out that the repetitiveness and basic message of most songs seemed like they were trying to convince church attendees that yes, God actually exists. You’d think that could be assumed because the attendees showed up in the first place, allowing the songs to dig a little deeper in meaning with talent.

Here’s another example. It’s a song I heard yesterday afternoon while attending my cousin Abby’s baptism called “You are God Alone:”

Repeating is believing

ChimpTiffany and I went to Easter service yesterday along with my uncle, aunt and two cousins. We hadn’t seen them in a little while so when they invited us over for church and brunch, we took them up on the deal.

Hanging with Tom, Tina, Abby and Ali was fun, as always. Picking on the girls and beating them at Nintendo Wii is enjoyable any day.

Because of the upcoming marriage, which is still 15 months away, Tiffany and I have been trying to attend church as often as possible. We have to show up enough to get them to wed us crazy kids. Or we can not go at all and pay them a $1,000 fee.

Video Vault: Blasphemy!

The kid in this first video may have been literally beaten with a bible when word got to his mother that he posted this first video on the Internet. The teenager tells his catholic mother that he is is an Atheist. Watch the video for her response:

I don’t know who was filming, but he deserves a pat on the back as well.
