NFL Adventure With Bell To Browns Stadium

Bengals v. BrownsBell and I had an NFL adventure Sunday, leaving from Columbus at 7:30 a.m. to drive to Cleveland and watch the Cincinnati Bengals play the Cleveland Browns.

Bell was able to score two tickets from Katie’s cousin and we set off for Cleveland Browns Stadium prepared to watch the Bengals kick the absolute crap out of the lowly Browns.

Neither of us had been to Browns Stadium before so we took the advice of Katie’s cousin, picked up some beer and headed to the stadium looking for some tailgaters instead of just finding a bar.

Prior to the trip, Bell and & decided to wear our Bengals gear despite going to an opposing team’s home field. Even after hearing stories of spectators cheering for opposing teams getting beer, and even urinate, sprayed on them, we decided that the Browns fans weren’t expecting to win the game and therefore would be a little less confrontational.

Labor Day Weekend In The ‘Nati’

Tiffany and I spent Labor Day weekend in Cincinnati to visit friends Nick & Kim and take in the city’s annual Riverfest and WEBN Fireworks.

Take Columbus’ Comfest and Red White and Boom, multiply them by 10, mix them together and cram them into a 1-day event, and you end up with Riverfest.

And though we personally missed all of the shenanigans by the river and watched the fireworks on a television of the Cadillac Ranch, we still had a lot of fun.

That’s right, we drove down to Cincinnati to watch the fireworks on television.

Columbus Cop Self-Broadcasts Bigoted Remarks

A Columbus police officer is in hot water after creating and broadcasting videos on YouTube many are calling anti-semitic and bigoted.

Officer Susan L. Purtee, 60, and her sister, Barbara Gordon-Bell, 52, blame Jews, blacks and illegal immigrants for a variety of woes in America according to a report from The Columbus Dispatch.

The “Patriot Dames” claim Jews monopolized the entertainment industry after the 1960s and blame them for much of the violence and negative examples for youth in Hollywood movies.

A New Protege

Through all this F-ing snow, my Protege, or “the shoe” as Bell named it, is still alive and ticking — kind of. A few weeks back the A/C compressor locked up, which is tied to the power steering. A $700 problem according to the guy at Star and Northwest Auto Care. So, I’ve had no air conditioning (no problem, it’s been 0 degrees outside anyway) and no power steering (huge problem when the steering is already hindered by a foot of ice and snow). Not to mention the brakes need to be replaced soon and the whole front end creaks like this guy’s bed every time i hit a bump.

And considering my car would barely qualify as “fair” condition on its report in Kelley Blue Book without the broken compressor, I took the plunge a few weeks ago and signed up for a new 2007 Honda Civic.

New Civy

I wanted a stick shift, so I still haven’t received the car because Honda doesn’t make many stick shift Civics here in the states. They’re supposedly huge over in Asia, though.

By the way, if you’re in the market for a new Honda in Columbus, just go to straight to Roush Honda. And ask about Honfidence.

Hopefully the Civy will arrive soon. There’s nothing worse than driving a broken Prot-e when you already approved a new car.
