Photos from the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer

Overall, I would recommend the trip. It’s for a good cause afterall, but I feel I should give the event two separate reviews.

The benefit side of the cruise, which featured the Buckeye players and events, was excellent. The players hung around and had fun with the cruisers and didn’t act bothered in the least by the drunks asking them for photo opportunities all day/night.

Also, the networking opportunities are worth the price of admission. Had drinks and dinner with some really cool people from inside the OSU Alumni Association and a photographer from NBC 4. I even ran into Dick Allen, owner of Zeno’s, who said he won his smoking lawsuit by the way.

The cruise side of the event, however, was a major disappointment. We spent roughly 96 hours on a cruise ship and only got off the boat for one four-hour stint in Key West. We were supposed to get a day in Playa Del Carmen, but Royal Caribbean wouldn’t let us off the ship due to high winds and choppy water. The temperature was 80 and the skies were clear so it was very frustrating.

Instead of eating authentic guacamole I battled motion sickness for most of the day.

I can see Tiff and I doing the Buckeye Cruise again, maybe even making it an annual thing, but I was turned off to cruises in general. There’s just not enough freedom to roam.
