Man’s Transformers T-shirt a ’security risk’

Transformers T-shirtA man in London was prevented from boarding his flight because he was wearing a Transformers T-shirt according to BBC News. On the shirt, a Transformer, which appears to be Optimus Prime, was holding a gun.

Brad Jayakody, 30, was told by security the picture of a gun was not allowed on board. He was forced to strip and change shirts to get on the plane.

Two more join Zeno’s fight against smoking ban

Impotency AdThe Loyal Order of Moose lodge on Schrock Rd. and Jack’s Corner Pub on Summit St. have scheduled a hearing today to challenge city smoking fines according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Zeno’s hearing, which was originally scheduled for May 21, was postponed until June 11 as requested by the bar.

To date, the Moose lodge and Jack’s have each been fined a total of $600. Zeno’s has been fined $3,100.

Woman in iron lung dies when house loses power

APC Battery BackupA woman, 61, confined to an iron lung died May 28 when her family’s house lost power reports the AP.

The woman had been stricken to the large metal tube since she was diagnosed with polio when she was 3 years old.

Because of the polio’s damage to her spine, she was unable to upgrade to a more modern form of breathing assistance when they became available in the 1950s.

The power company said the outages were spotty due to a tree branch that had fallen on power lines. The family said they were unable to get the emergency generator working. How sad.

Zeno’s challenges smoking ban

Zeno'sThe owner of Zeno’s in Victorian Village, Dick Allen, will become the first to challenge enforcement of Ohio’s smoking ban tomorrow morning during an administrative hearing according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Zeno’s and the city of Columbus will present their cases to a hearing officer, who will then make recommendations to the Board of Health. The Health Board is expected to address the matter at a meeting next month.

Georgia bar selling racist Obama t-shirts

Racist Obama T-Shirt

Mulligan’s Bar and Tavern in Marietta, Georgia, is selling the above t-shirt to its patrons. What’s worse, Mike Norman, the bar’s owner, thinks there’s nothing wrong with portraying an African American as a monkey.

“We’re not living in the (19)40s,” he told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “Look at him . . . the hairline, the ears — he looks just like Curious George.”
