Flickr for the win!

I spent five hours yesterday trying to find a way to post pictures from my cell phone directly to the main blog post rundown of this site.

I tried the built-in post via e-mail feature of WordPress, but it wouldn’t post pix message attachments. Also my site would just hold the post for approval instead of auto posting the message.

I then tried using my Tumblr account, which does a great job of accepting and posting pix messages, but they don’t have an auto post to WordPress option. Fair enough, I thought I’d try a couple feed aggregators to do that.

I tried the WP-o-Matic plugin, but the program would only process posts every 2 hours. Also, the plugin hijacked the WordPress.com Stats area of my dashboard.

I tried the FeedWordPress plugin, but it wouldn’t post photos, just text.

I gave up on Tumblr and tried the new Web site Posterous next. Their site had an auto post to WordPress option AND created posts from cell phone messages. But alas, they had no support for pix messages (MMS is the prefered nomenclature by the way).

Finally I decided to check Flickr’s options, a site I already use heavily. I knew they accepted pix messages to post to Flickr accounts but I didn’t know if they had an auto blog post feature. They did.

I’m sorry Flickr, I should have never strayed. Er, I should have been smart enough to check with you in the first place.
