“That is precise!” said Baumann after we fired up the HD cable box and switched the new television over to the 1080p setting.
“That’s tomorrow’s blog headline,” said Tiffany laughing.
After yearning for a big screen television for 10 years, the time arrived yesterday evening.
When Tiffany and I first moved into the house, we had to buy a new bed. So I opened up a credit card and we took one home. The deal was made at the time that when the bed was paid off, I would be allowed to by myself a new television. Well, we paid it off. Close enough anyway.
My new baby is a 50″ Samsung plasma flatscreen that was well-reviewed by PC World, CNET and Consumer Reports.
Baumann really hooked me up with a great discount and even went out of his way to let me borrow his truck to get it home. Props to him all the way.
Here’s how my living room looked up until yesterday:
And this is how it looks now:
I still have to remove my old DVD player and fix a bit of wiring, but you get the idea.
When you buy a brand new HD television, we all know you have to buy a Blu-Ray player to go with it, right? Blu-Ray players cost just as much as PS3s though. So right now, it makes little sense to buy a standalone player instead of a PS3. So, I may have bought a Playstation as well.
I better enjoy them because I’m not gonna be allowed to buy myself anything significant again until 2012.

Rick- Let you know you can keep a plasma running 24-7 the image burns or goes black so to speak if you do so, and the color maybe better on the plasma, the LCD is best way to go for gaming. Should have asked me, I work for a pro audio video company, and could have sold you a pro grade samsung for the same price and had it dropped shipped.
Hellyar,
If you REALLY knew what you where talking about you would know that the 550 series plasma has a game mode as well as a randomized image shifter to prevent pixel burn in… Stick to Jesus worship, and let me know when you get a brain….
Baumann
Baumann,
I know about image shifters, but I dont have neary as much free time as you to research into the type of tv marcus has.
Baumann,
How does “Girls Gone Wild” look on the 550 series, in game mode, if attempting to prevent pixel burn, while the randomized image shifter is set to “in worship mode”? P.S Does the God being worshiped change at all pixel clarity?
Baumann-
After thinking about it for a while, I have to concede my first comment on the topic after realizing the post was highly uneccessary and self absorbed, so I apologize for raining on your parade Rick, as for Baumann you maybe were right about the tv but as for the Jesus worship, I will do so gladley and I even prayed for you John.
