If it seems like I’ve been hard on Christianity this week, it hasn’t been my intention. But when I’m thrown a meatball right down the middle of the plate, like this article from FoxNews, I gotta swing.
An 11-year-old Wisconsin girl died recently from a treatable form of diabetes because her parents chose to pray instead of seeking medical help.
Autopsy reports indicate that Madeline Neumann was probably sick for 30 days, suffering symptoms like nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, loss of appetite and weakness.
When asked about the death, Everest Metro Police Chief Dan Vergin said the parents claimed they “didn’t have enough faith.”
To help their daughter “it was better to keep praying. Call more people to help pray,” he said in the article.
The mother, Leilani Neumann, thinks the girl can still be resurrected, Vergin said.
The police chief said the parents are not members of an organized church or religion but hold “a little Bible study of a few people.”
