Say what you will about Tom Petty’s performance during Super Bowl halftime last night, but I thought it was one of the better halftime shows in recent memory.
Of course, being that Petty is my favorite artist, I’m a little biased. I will say, however, that if you’re one of the people commenting on blogs around the Internet that Prince’s performance in last year’s Super Bowl was better, you can go put on a tight purple jumpsuit, makeup and do pelvic thrusts while spewing high pitched “oooh”s and “ahhh”s with others that share your opinion.
I’ll take my iconic American rock legend instead, no matter that he’s close to 60 and filled to the brim with bong resin.
Plus, Petty’s show may have had the biggest phallic symbol in Super Bowl history.
Regardless, the bigger news is that Petty will kickoff another tour this year and tickets went on sale this morning. He’s not coming to Columbus but has two Ohio shows scheduled, one at Blossom Music Center near Cleveland on Sunday, June 2, and the other at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati on Tuesday, July 8. You can buy tickets through Ticketmaster.
