My Civy’s finally repaired

More than a month after my neighbor across the street backed into my Civic, I finally get to drive it sans ugly damage.

After waiting weeks for Liberty Mutual to determine the accident’s liability — in other words — after Liberty Mutual had obtained and processed my police report and estimate, they OKed the repair.

Since I didn’t find out about my car being hit until later in the day, I had to download and snail mail my own police report which was an interesting but weird process. It certainly slowed down the repair.

I took the car to True2Form on Monday and they said the repair would take about five days. I had to get a rental car, so Enterprise set me up with a 2007 Chevy Malibu:

Chevy Malibu

Chevy Malibu. Most. Boring. Rental. Ever.

Back when I drove 10-year-old Mazda Proteges, I used to get excited when I got a car rental because a Ford F150 broke them. That’s usually because the car was 10 years newer and therefore, always better.

This time, I’d rather have my Civy back. Although it’s just a Civic, it just feels cooler to drive. Plus it’s a manual transmission, so it’s just more fun. Also, it has an auxiliary input for my iPod, which the Malibu doesn’t. Driving the Malibu feels like I’m driving my grandfather’s car. And in no way resembles the music video of “Malibu” by Hole:

I get to pick up the Civy today. Hopefully there were no problems with the repair like the paint not matching. I’m sure it’ll be fine, but we’ll see. I’m gonna get it during lunch.
