Columbus, Ohio, is the 8th toughest city in America according to the October issue of Maxim Magazine.
In future Ohio State promo brochures, boosters can cite Maxim’s research: Columbus offers the highest concentration of cheap hotel rooms on this list and offers non-stop gloomy weather — 183 cloudy days a year! So, kids, there’s no need to fork out big bucks for off-campus sex or fumble for sunglasses when the hangover hits.
Columbus ranks right ahead of Fort Worth, Texas, and right behind Sand Diego.
The toughest city in the Nation? Chicago, followed by Los Angeles and Detroit.
The news that Columbus ranks so high seemed surprising because of a general belief that Columbus has the second-highest percentage of gays and lesbians.
That belief is, in fact, not true.
According to an annual study by the the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy, Columbus doesn’t even rank in the top 10.
1 - San Francisco - 15.4%
2 - Seattle - 12.9%
3 - Atlanta - 12.8%
4 - Minneapolis - 12.5%
5 - Boston - 12.3%
6 - Oakland - 12.1%
7 - Sacramento - 9.8%
8 - Portland, Ore. - 8.8%
9 - Denver - 8.2%
10 - Long Beach - 8.1%
