The move to the new house is nearly complete, but there’s still a lot left to do.
I have to remove the remaining furniture out of my apartment tonight with help from Tiffany’s family while Tiff finishes painting her apartment back to an off-white color.
Luckily, all that remain in my apartment are a dresser, chair, bed frame with headboard, end tables and a washer and dryer. Oh, and plenty of filth I’ll have to return and clean at a later date.
I posted an ad on Craigslist to give the washer and dryer away for free and had five responses withing five minutes. Literally.
A woman was supposed to show up Sunday to pick them up but never showed. So I have a second guy coming tonight at six to drag them out of the basement. We’ll see if he surfaces.
This past week has been non-stop work. Besides all the packing before the move which started on Sunday and is still underway, I volunteered to help my friend Bell move on Saturday afternoon.
So after I helped move Bell’s couches, washers, dryers and dressers on Saturday, I moved my own dressers, mattresses, boxes, tables, boxes and boxes on Sunday. I also helped Tiff move her boxes, shoes, boxes, clothes and boxes.
We hired professional movers on Monday to get the bigger stuff from Tiff’s apartment, thank God. We went with Two Men and a Truck and they were great. Well worth the money. Two guys who’s upper body mass equaled 75% of their total size throwing items around like they were made of Styrofoam. But carefully.
I don’t think we would have ever finished the move without them.
Not that we’re finished. Lots of unpacking and organizing still. Ugh.
I love the new place, though. It’s perfect. It has a home-theater setup in the basement that’s pretty bad ass. Now if only I could find the time to relax and use it.
