A video game based on NBC’s “The Office” will soon be under development according to a press release on MumboJumbo.com.
MumboJumbo will team with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group to create and publish the game which will be available online and across small platforms such as the PSP and the Nintendo DS.
“Developing a game … that combines the quirky characters and humor of the show with a proven, addictive game mechanic we think will be welcomed by fans and casual game players alike,” said Bill Kispert, vice president and general manager, Interactive, Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group.
How the actual gameplay will turn out, we’ll have to wait and see but hopefully you can choose which character to be in the show.
Perhaps if you choose Dwight Schrute you’ll have to maintain order in the office while avoiding office booby traps set by Jim Halpert and/or Pam Beesly.
Or if you’re Jim you have to complete successful pranks on Dwight or Andy Bernard while avoiding team-building tasks from Michael Scott.
Or if you’re Pam you have make a decision and actually follow it through. You would get bonus points or extra lives by stomping on Jim’s head and heart.
Michael’s character would challenge you with the task of keeping your job without actually doing anything.
And the points in the game wouldn’t actually be points.
They’d be Schrute Bucks.
