Apparently they could have used Massillon, Ohio, as the site of 1999’s “Varsity Blues.”
I traveled to the little town that’s big on football over the weekend to visit Tiffany’s grandmother and saw the support the town gives to the Massillon Washington High School football team.
It’s June, which means it’s the offseason, but “Go Tigers!” seemed to be written on every other building.
A documentary was filmed on the program, distributed in 2001 and fittingly titled “Go Tigers!“
The program has won 22 state championships, nine national championships and has produced 23 professional players and three NFL coaches according to Wikipedia.org.
I didn’t get to enjoy a game just yet, but their stadium is sick.
Paul Brown Tigers Stadium holds 18,000 and is twice as nice as Cleveland Browns Stadium, but that’s mostly just because it’s where the Browns play.
All that was missing was AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” and James Van Der Beek uttering “I don’t want your life!”
Oh, and Ali Larter in a whipped cream bikini would have been nice too, I guess.
